5 Healthy Habits to Better Start Your Workday
We all want that extra time to sleep in the morning, but incorporating healthy habits into your morning schedule might be more productive than a few extra minutes of snoozing.
How you start your morning sets the tone for the rest of the workday. Have you ever overslept, ran out of the house without eating breakfast, gotten to work late, but still felt like that was the day you performed best? Probably not. If you want to tackle your day, consider these tips for morning healthy habits.
1. Get up a few minutes earlier. How many times have you thought, “Oh I have plenty of time” and it turned out that you didn’t have enough time? We’ve all been there.
Waking up 20-30 minutes earlier allows you to have extra time to get ready, squeeze in a workout, enjoy breakfast, finish some chores around the house, or whatever it is you need to do! If you start your day with a few extra minutes and start your day already feeling productive, it sets a great tone for the rest of your day and is a healthy habit to get into.
2. Drink water. Drinking water fixes everything, right? Well, not everything but it can really help by keeping you in better health so you can perform your best at work. There’s also many benefits to drinking water like helping to keep you energized, contributing to brain function, and maximizing your physical and mental performance.
3. Eat breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day because it ensures more effectiveness at work and it’ll make you a lot more fun to be around, as you’ll be energized and satisfied! If you don’t have a lot of time in the morning, prepare your breakfast the night before or keep snacks you can grab on the go like granola bars or fruit.
4. Think positively. So often during the workday we feel overwhelmed and overloaded. Taking some time each morning to reflect and feel grateful can help your keep your priorities straight and make you appreciate the wonderful things around you.
5. Prepare for the day ahead. Whether it’s packing your lunch or organizing your to-do list for the day or week, take some time to get organized and plan for the day ahead. Deciding on where you’ll be taking your lunch break or packing it ahead of time is important, so that you ensure you take a break that day. It can be easy to skip or work through meals when tasks pile up, but you’ll work better if you have time to rest and recharge.
