San Jose, California. Home to one of our most unique CommonGrounds locations and the third most-populous city in California. With so many people living and working in San Jose, a conclusion can be drawn that there must be so much to do and see. Well we have the inside scoop and know just where to direct you on your day off or evening out on the town.
San Jose in itself is one of the most diverse little cities in Silicon Valley, as well as one of the most overlooked. The heart of downtown San Jose is home to sacred religious temples to pray, Japan Town that holds its very own eateries, the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco 49ers, as well as plenty of microbreweries, wineries, and music events. There are endless options of things to do and every street you turn down will guide you to a new and exciting adventure.
A great place to start is right outside the walls of our very own CommonGrounds Workplace. Just two blocks away is one of the top business programs in California, located at San Jose State University. Along with housing a top performing business program, their sports teams are known to be very competitive and vigorous. The Spartans (the football team of SJSU) is coming off of a winning season and bowl game appearance last year in 2020 and they are looking to kick off the season by playing teams like University of Southern California. All of this should make for a very exciting season full of competitive sportsmanship and school spirit.
Moving up the ladder from college to professional sports – San Jose hosts the San Jose Sharks and 49er’s all within 20 minutes driving distance. Levi’s Stadium (49er’s) and SAP Center (Sharks) additionally host events like concerts, The Monster Energy Supercross Competition, Monster Jam, NCAA tournaments, and even bull riding!
Another main attraction and unique area about San Jose is our very own little Japantown. This is a lively area known for the eateries located within and offers a rare blend of business, cultural and historic resources. It is home to Japanese American and Hawaiian Diners, along with chic boutiques, gift shops, and a mix of hip galleries and karaoke bars.
San Jose offers many ideal social scenes that are appealing for businesses and employees to unwind at after a long work week. Miniboss (an arcade bar) or Paper Planes both have a great social scene for friends, colleagues, and businesses to network. Miniboss attracts many students as well as has over 27+ year old (and new) school arcade games, freshly made beverages, and delicious food. Miniboss was the first arcade bar in San Jose and has been one of the city’s main attractions since they’ve opened! If you try it out and catch good vibes, be sure to stop by the CommonGrounds office in San Jose and tell the owner yourself!
