What Is a Workplace Manager at CommonGrounds?
Author: Gear Story, Workplace Manager | CommonGrounds Seattle
Your Workplace Manager is one of the first people you will meet when touring or starting a membership at CommonGrounds. You may be wondering, what is his or her role and how can he or she help me in my new workplace?
A Workplace Manager wears many different hats! It truly is a hybrid role between:
- A facility manager
- An office manager
- A workplace experience manager
A Workplace Manager is responsible for the overall member experience and the elements that influence it. This includes maintaining the physical space, technology, member relationships, and customer satisfaction. This role ensures that every member has a consistent experience no matter what location they visit. Our members at CommonGrounds enjoy the benefit of utilizing some of our other spaces across the country during their travels, so it is our job to make sure everything is in place for them during their visit.
One of our goals at CommonGrounds is to create an environment that feels like “home away from home”. We strive to achieve a warm, welcoming, and inclusive setting that inspires creativity and inspiration. We also want to take the stress of the office off your shoulders, so that all you have to handle is conducting business. That being said, Workplace Managers handle brewing coffee, sorting mail, conducting tours, and day-to-day tasks of running the office.
Additionally, our Workplace Managers have a knack for networking and making others feel comfortable. They have the ability to problem solve without a manual, are detail oriented, tech savvy, collaborative, agile, and innovative. We strive to come up with solutions quickly and efficiently, and to prevent them from happening again.
Overall, as a Workplace Manager you are responsible for making sure that every member has a positive experience. During my interview for the Workplace Manager position in Seattle, I referred to myself as “the Director of Happiness”. That quality is one that I seek to pour into my workspace each and every day!
