December to Remember: Celebrating the Holidays at CommonGrounds Workplace

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and at CommonGrounds Workplace it is so important for us to create excitement and joy in the office during the holiday season.

While our workplace teams love to go above and beyond for our CG members year round, they tend to amplify the experience during the holidays to add some merriment to the workday.

This year – several of our workplace teams threw holiday parties and special feature days as a gesture of appreciation to our members, to thank them for choosing us as their workplace. They had such an incredible experience celebrating with our members, that we pulled them in and asked them to share a little bit about their December to Remember.

At CommonGrounds Salt Lake City, Tina (Workplace Manager) and Jennifer (Workplace Coordinator) celebrated an entire week of holiday cheer! Each day was given a theme and offered snacks or gifts for the members to enjoy during their workday.

“It’s fun to bring holiday spirit into the workplace! CommonGrounds allowed us the opportunity to “play Santa” to our members, so we were able to make our space even more inviting and celebratory.”

-Jennifer Wilcox

December to Remember Schedule

Movie Monday – A showing of a favorite holiday movie, ELF, in the common area with complimentary bags of popcorn

Tasty Treat Tuesday – Delicious treats such as baked goods, pastries, charcuterie, candy, and snacks were set out in the kitchen for members to enjoy

Wrap It Up Wednesday – A gift wrapping station complete with wrapping paper, ribbons, scissors, tape and more was created so that members could wrap their holiday gifts in a private place outside their home

Thank You Thursday – Breakfast provided by CommonGrounds

Feel Good Friday – Donations collected by CommonGrounds members and staff to be delivered to the Utah Food Bank

“One of our members had been wrapping his Christmas gifts with magazines for years, he just never thought to buy gift wrap. When he saw our holiday schedule with the wrapping station, he made a special trip into the office during a storm storm to wrap his presents. He wanted to give something he was proud of to his family, and we were excited he made such a special trip to come into the workplace!”

-Tina Troast

Across the country, our CommonGrounds locations were filled with parties and celebratory moments to bring spirit into the workplace. At CommonGrounds Minneapolis, Kate (Workplace Coordinator) threw her members a holiday party to celebrate the season. While Kate’s main goal was celebrating her members, she also took the initiative of giving back to the community by purchasing sweet treats from local nonprofit, Cookie Cart, a bakery that provides job experience and leadership training to teenagers.

In Long Beach, CA our Workplace Manager, Jessie, saw how hard her members were working and wanted to cater to their needs. Instead of throwing one big party, she decided to fully stock the fridge and kitchen with complimentary beverages and sweet treats that her members could enjoy at their own pace. Other unique ways CommonGrounds celebrated the holiday season in their workplaces included purchasing breakfast for their members to enjoy (CommonGrounds Philadelphia) and hosting an Open House event (CommonGrounds Carlsbad).

These are just a few examples of how important creating an environment that feels like home and that is full of love is to our teams at CommonGrounds. It is our goal to make each day special and to make our members excited about coming to work.

At CommonGrounds, we want our members to have fun; to meet new people; to feel excited and happy during office hours. During the holidays, that is especially important and we love coming up with creative new ways to spread joy and cheer.

2021 was certainly a December to Remember. It is our hope that each CommonGrounds member views their experience with us as memorable and joyful. For some people, the holidays can be stressful and even a bit crazy sometimes. Business professionals are wrapping up projects, trying to meet deadlines and quotas, and it all can. be overwhelming.

We hope that by creating days and moments during our December holiday season will bring a smile to our members faces and help them remember the joy in this season.
