Walkthrough of CommonGrounds: Carlsbad Edition

Author: Estefan Galue, Workplace Manager | CommonGrounds Carlsbad

CommonGrounds Carlsbad – The headquarters for CommonGrounds and the site that started it all. Located less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean, with top-rated weather, this coworking space is a one-stop-shop for success.

If you have some time now, I’d like to capture the attention of your imagination and give you a quick walkthrough of our space:

We start at the main lobby. Please note that if this were an in-person tour, I would’ve offered you something to drink, while simultaneously explaining our space and the CG Community!

So now that I’ve shared a bit of background information and possibly put a beverage in your hand, we end up in the first stop of this written tour – our communal space.

Our communal space is a conglomerate of member workspaces, our communal kitchen, and our communal event space. I know what you’re thinking – that’s a lot for a communal space!

Well first, let’s dive into our communal membership space. All members within the CG community are welcome to use our communal space as they please. Both members and tour prospects that are not necessarily looking for anything designated are set up to thrive in this sort of atmosphere. These members are allowed to use our communal spaces during business hours of operations and highly enjoy the two major components of coworking: fast Wi-Fi, and a place to set up and work!

This next component of our communal space is my personal favorite, the communal kitchen. Equipped with stainless steel refrigerator doors that are (in no exaggeration whatsoever) bigger than my television, our communal fridge is stocked with a plethora of healthy and delicious beverages on the right-hand side. The left-hand side is dedicated to our members for any food or beverages that they may want to leave in the fridge for the week, all while being well-aware of our Friday “deep-clean” of the fridge.

Members are also encouraged to partake in our “honesty market.” This includes the right-hand portion of the fridge with a select assortment of healthy and delicious beverages mentioned in the previous paragraph, but also a ceiling-high display of nutritional and classic snacks that are also cost-friendly. Having quick access to coffee, tea, and kombucha on tap is never a bad place to sit, if you ask me!

Moving on to our communal event space, members within the CG community are each entitled to one free event per month across all membership types. From networking cocktails to company movie night, our event space is equipped with a projector and projector screen for any type of presentation.

Nearing the end of our communal space tour, we move closer to our dedicated desk area. Our Dedicated Desk Membership offers more privacy and security than a communal membership and allows members to have a space to call their own. They receive a designated desk, an ergonomic chair, and a personal filing cabinet with a key. The cherry on top to this membership plan is the 24/7 building access to our space.

Catering to businesses of all sizes, we offer offices at CommonGrounds Carlsbad ranging from a 1-person office to even a 12-person office!

Next on our tour of CommonGrounds Carlsbad are our spacious conference rooms. Named after the lifeguard tower, Tower 26, standing proudly just a few miles from this location, conference rooms at CG Carlsbad are known and referred to by our members as “Towers” 26-30:

Our current conference room features are as follows:

  • Tower 26 (fits up to 15 people) – TV, Creston Phone System, White Board
  • Towers 27 & 28 (fit up to 8 people) – TV, Creston Phone System, White Board
  • Towers 29 & 30 (fit up to 4 people) – White Board

Being either a communal, desk, or office member, all members are encouraged to book and utilize our modern and state of the art conference rooms for any type of group conference calling, webinars, meetings, or simply just peace and quiet, through our sophisticated CG App or website version.

Another privacy option open to all members are any of our three sound-resistant phone booths. These are not regulated or monitored, and are exclusively on a “first-come, first serve” basis regarding the use of these booths. Phone booths are a great place to take private calls, meetings, or even just have a few quiet moments to yourself.

Due to the amenities in our space, private showers are a must. This workspace is conveniently located a few blocks from the ocean, as well as an onsite gym in our backyard space. Members have 24/7 access to this private shower room with digital number lockers for any overnight items. Towels are replaced and washed daily, and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are replenished and refilled weekly.

Taking our tour outside to our backyard – members have access to a CrossFit-inspired, outdoor recreational gym. With Sunday – Saturday access, members and residents of BluWater Crossing have the chance to optimize their physical health just a few of feet from their workstation. A full perimeter of coated wood allows for the utmost privacy, whether it’s a simple workout or a full-body workshop class!

With all of these amenities, combined with a sense of community and entrepreneurship, CG Carlsbad truly entertains the feeling and sense of accomplishment after even just a few hours of work!
