Why Working From Home Isn’t Working For You

Working from home may sound great and be super convenient, but is it really the best way for you to work? It’s possible the answer to that question is no.

We all work differently and are productive at different rates. Not every environment is the best environment for us to get the most work done.

Since the pandemic, working from home has become very popular. Many employees enjoy it because they have all the comforts of home (literally), right in their office. Between meetings you can throw a load of laundry in or prep dinner. You can be home when your kids arrive back from school. You can wear pajamas all day long and no one will know.

But convenience isn’t always the biggest and most important factor when it comes to work. Sometimes there’s a better way  to benefit your work performance. Your home office may sound ideal, but is it really helping you?

Think about it though. Do you find yourself more distracted at home because of the people around you and the chores that need to be done? Do you find yourself working extra hours on the weekend or late at night, just because you can? Do you feel lonelier or like you’re stuck in the same house all the time?

The thought of going back to the office might sound terrible to you – you don’t even want to think about it. But what if there was a place that felt like home, while still having an office setting? What if there was an office that had a kitchen for you to enjoy warm meals in? What if there was an office that had private call rooms or comfortable lounges when you just need to relax for a few minutes? What if there was an office that had even more resources than your home?

This type of office is called a coworking space. Coworking spaces like CommonGrounds Workplace are ideal because they have settings for all kinds of workers. You can rent a private office for just you or rent a larger office for your whole company. You can work at a hot desk for the day or reserve conference rooms for a few hours. You can even continue working from home a few days and still work in the office on the other days.

Additionally, you have common areas and lounges to take breaks in (just like at home). You have private areas to take calls where no one will bother you (just like at home). You can eat hot, fresh meals or walk to a nearby restaurant for lunch (just like at home). Depending on your membership type*, you can work the hours you want (just like at home).

Coworking spaces offer all the luxuries of home, without having to be there. You can meet new people, make friends, or keep completely to yourself. You can work in an office, work on a couch, or work from home whenever you want to. The choice is yours. You still have freedom and convenience, just without the distractions of home.
